Housebroken – The Shaggy Dog review

Click here for the commentary track

In Tanuke’s longest movie review yet, TZ takes on the cinematic land mine that is: Disney’s The Shaggy Dog.

TZ’s comments:

This review took over 14 months to come to fruition, from original concept discussion, filming, editing, and finally publishing. I think it’s the funniest thing I’ve ever done. If it weren’t such a fringe subject to make a review about, I would totally submit it to tgwtg.com.

I won’t be able to fully see it until I get home, but until I do, here’s my first advice : http://www.wallmart.com/ip/ORE-Furniture-Halogen-Tochiere-in-White/14579663

    No hard feelings :)

    jeeze.
It was just a friendly nudge toward the low lighting at the beginning and middle of the clip.
    Lighten up will you.

An enjoyable review. There were some audio differences when you went from filming to voice over, but those are minor and can be worked out over time.

The major thing I take away from this review is being happy I live in the internet age, where I know that there are other people out there who are frustrated when someone skimps on their transformation sequence.

My comment about the audio wasn’t meant to be disparaging. I enjoyed the review, and look forward to more in the future.

I enjoyed the background on the history of the Shaggy Dog, as well as a comparison between the transformation method between the older movie and the current remake. The riffing was enjoyable, and the cut away skits were pretty good.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Wow. That really suck. The movie that is. I’m glad I wasn’t in an hurry to get it, nor do I plan to get it. I was planning to wait until it get into the 6$ bargain bin, but considering there’s not a single TF, I’ll pass.

Nice work on the review. Too bad you had to do it on a crappy movie though. They sure managed to ruin a classic though.

For your next one, may I suggest you try to get your hand on one of those cheap cell phone neck microphone? It probably help you with the live action commenting. Some were a bit difficult to understand. But in general, great review and I feel the same about the move as you do.

You would believe a remake would be better than a 40 years old movie and it’s 30 years old sequels. But nooo. 4 dragon taurs ‘thumbs’ down!

Yeah, because explaining the complexities of Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid in the form of a weaponised retrovirus is what should be used to explain the circumstance surrounding his infection as opposed to the much simpler and easier to understand for children (and the idiots that purchased this movie) “little angry dogs in ur bluud, durhur”, which clearly…doesnt…?

    Anyway, once more for clarity.
    “SUPER FUCKING ANIMAL TASEEEEERRRRRR!!!!”
