Second Life blocks Emerald Viewer

Users of Emerald Viewer, a third party Second Life program, will be blocked from accessing SL as of Wednesday, Sept 8. Emerald is popular among many TF fans because it allows external control over your interface and avatar, resulting in things like limited communication and movement, and forced changes of the user’s appearance. This lets players and objects in game TF you with or without your permission.

However, due to violations to the Linden Labs terms of service from the Emerald Developers that were not fixed after the allotted time, users of the Emerald Viewer will be unable to connect to Second Life through that program anymore. Your account will not be affected, you’ll just not be able to use that program anymore to log in.

The Theater – review from DragonComedian

Wow, this was unexpected. This guy really liked the game! It reads more like a back of the box blurb than an actual review, but the effort is what counts, and I’m very appreciative.

DragonComedian’s Journal — Fur Affinity [dot] net.

It’s not the first review of the game, even. For those who haven’t seen it, user Kotaro did a review of it several months ago on Youtube.

Kotaro Reviews: The Theater

As harsh as he is on the game in the actual review, he still ends up giving it a 7/10.

Sonic the HedgeHOG

We’ve secretly replaced Sonic’s power rings with onion rings. Let’s see if he notices.

In this recent hack of Sonic 2, the power rings are now greasy onion rings, which must be avoided to prevent Sonic from becoming a fat immobile tub of flesh (who quickly dies of what I assume is a heart attack)

I… I think can already hear the WG TF fans sketching this out into fan art as we speak. Be afraid, people. Be very afraid.

Nostalgia Critic/Furry War Goes to Space

In the most recent episode of Video Game Confessions, we learn some Interesting things about Star Fox hero Fox McCloud, in which there’s an oddly familiar parallel between what he does and something else on the internet that I can’t quite put my finger on…

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

My Review: 5/10

Alright, so I got critiqued pretty heavily on my Avatar review, which I took deeply into consideration. (Special thanks to GreyJaeger and Dragonaide). My initial review of Sands of Time was much higher, simply because I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I took a minute to step back and analyze it, and found a few more problems I hadn’t initially encountered.

Problem 1: The Dagger. Basically, the dagger is the iconic weapon for the basis of the entire film. It’s very heavily plugged in the trailers. Going in, I was afraid that it was going to be used relentlessly to undo every single mistake in the movie and thus interfere with the whole plot proceeding forward. But, as it turns out, the dagger cannot be used infinitely.

(Minor Spoiler)

The Sands of Time contained within the hilt are not infinite, and once used up, must be replenished. Thusly, as It turns out, the magical properties of the dagger are only used 4-5 times throughout the entire film, most of which are used the first time around within a time span of two minutes. So the whole ‘reversing time’ thing is very scarcely used.

Problem 2: Tag, You’re it. Scattered with frequent action moments, chase scenes, and ostrich racing (yes, ostrich racing), the action does not take away from one simple fact: the majority of the movie is little more than a complex adaption of “Capture the Flag: The Movie”, with the dagger frequently changing hands.

Problem 3: Predictable, Cliché Ending. I won’t spoil it here. But if you’ve seen the trailers and know the basic formula for the movie, you can probably guess. But also, the movie is based on a Video Game. Go ahead and name three good movies based on video games. I dare you.

Now, the transformation. What Transformation, you may ask? While it is true that no person transforms during this movie, and it may not even be called a transformation film itself, I have taken this into consideration. But I cannot ignore the concept which this movie is based around.

Time. (Minor Spoiler ahead)

When the jewel on the hilt of the sword is pushed, the Sands of Time contained within are released, swirling around the user and reversing time itself, to a period of, which, if I recall was mentioned in the film, one minute. The effect is quite something to see on the big screen,  quite different from simply rewinding your VHS without all those scratchy lines. The effect is radical and cool to see, but I feel like SoT made several efforts so as not to simply appear as an amped up version of ClockStoppers, which had the same general principle, that being that those not holding the time-altering device is completely unaware of the effect. But my lingering question was, what if more than one person is holding the dagger when the sands are released?

All in all, I enjoyed myself, nonetheless. It was a good movie, but I feel it could’ve been great. Although the ostrich racing certainly got my attention.

Authors Note: Well, this is it! At 13, this is the first Series Finale. (I decided to call each set a series rather than a season because it just seemed to make more sense.) The initial run of most series nowadays is thirteen installments, so this seemed like a good place to leave off. Anyone who has read or commented on any of my previous entries is encouraged to do so here. Thoughts? Questions? Concerns? How can I improve my reviews? Is there something you’d like me to do more or less of? Please, let me know! I have great fun writing these and aim to not only please my readers, but I read all of your comments and try to incorporate them as  best I can.  I look forward to writing more reviews for Series 2, which, I promise, will contain ONLY TF related movies. See you in August!

Blizzard Unleashes Female Worgen Model

I personally don’t play WoW, but I really like her. For the uninitiated, the Worgen are an Alliance-side race that have previously been unplayable until the new upcoming expansion: Cataclysm. Rumor has it they will be able too switch between anthro and wolf forms on the fly to allow for different tactics in combat. Like all WoW races, Worgen will be available in male and female models, and with multiple markings and fur patterns.

Breaking news! Underbelly Elixer factory explosion causes rampant Walrus TFs!

Perhaps even more epic than their Equipment Potency EquivalencE Number is Blizzard’s wonderfully absurd Tuskarr Armory prank, where every character’s Armory model is replaced by an anthro walrus character known in-game as a Tuskarr, a non-playable race native to Northrend. Also, everyone’s job skill is now fishing. Appropriate enough, I suppose.

While there is a way to become a Tuskarr in game with various elixers and items, the change is mostly cosmetic and only temporary. I for one would love to see the Tuskarr become a playable race, but I doubt that’s going to happen in favor of the Goblins and Worgen.

Join the Tanuke clan on Earth Eternal

I just started up the official Tanuke clan over on Earth Eternal. If you feel like joining other TF fans for some fun questing in an all-furry world, come on by and start a character. If you already have an account, the owner of the clan is “Preston Waternoose” a bandicoon mage.

Hope to see you there!
